Read MoreTwo weeks ago I found out we were heading to San Francisco for our Anniversary. The very next day I started to google Vegan restaurants, figuring out their distance from the hotel and from various spots in the city we might find ourselves exploring.....
Read MoreI wake up for probably the 5th time and reach over to look at the phone....6:45am. Too early! But,I am definitely not falling back asleep, so stealth mode I slide out of bed and slip out of the room. I wait for a second to listen for movement. Nothing. I creep down the stairs and head into my haven. Lights on and I grab my bowls, ingredients....
Read MoreDISCLAIMER: The dish pictured is not a sorry excuse, its an easy dish meant for lazy evenings after work
Nothing gets me angrier than going to a nice restaurant where the chef apparently knows his stuff and as I scan the menu I realize my option is either a larger portion of the appetizer salad or a pasta dish. Really!
Read MoreAs a kid I dreamed about camping. I mean like the real camping. The kind that was written about in my childhood books that had the main characters out in the woods with campfires and lake games. The chicken that I am, the closest I got was the front yard of my "cabin" (quotations because it was really like a mini house you just called a cabin) in Tupper Lake. Food, a bathroom and anything I forgot to bring in the tent was just a hop and a skip away in Cabin 13. I was a chump.
Read MoreSandwich Queen Here.
Andrew has had a recent obsession with Rock Hill Bakehouse Sourdough, and while Andrew would be happy to simply eat his with Peanut Butter and Banana all day, every day, I like to have some fun.
Read MoreWeekends free of multiple weddings and special events. This used to be unknown to me.
Immediately after college I started working as Function Manager for special events, and later that Fall I got offered a position as the Wedding Coordinator. As of this year, I have handed over the reigns to my co-worker and so I have enjoyed a Summer that includes weekends where I can relax and not worry about having to step away from whatever fun activity is taking place to go to work.
Read MoreEvery Wednesday I have a pick-up from my CSA at the Farmer's Market. This is my third year with Fledging Crow and I love it. Fair warning though, once you taste farmers market greens you will end up not eating them elsewhere (seriously, I barely eat a salad in the Winter months).
Read MoreDedicated to my friends. Make them yourself!
After living in Lake Placid for a few years I realized that a lack of Spring Rolls at my beck and call were leaving a gaping hole in my heart. So, after a little research I decided to take them on myself....
Read MoreLast year, I along with Andrew and a couple of friends set out on our kayaks onto Lower Saranac Lake. That was probably the third time our kayaks touched water. Last week it was the fifth (yes, shake that head with disappoint). I got my brother to go back out with me to an island my friend christened as “Seuss Island”
Read MoreWe parked in front of The Good Bite Kitchen and with a little manipulation I got him to eat in for breakfast. It was amazing! Fried Egg on brown rice with beans, guacamole and salsa fresco. That is what I call a weekend breakfast meal! In addition we split a smoothie. Well, we were supposed to at least.
Read MoreDo you think he will remember me?
I am sure he will.
Really?! How can you be sure? I would be so sad if he had no clue who I was. Maybe he wants to snuggle this time. No, hes to cool for that. Walk. I will take him for walks. O, I am so excited!
Read MoreI hope everyone is enjoying all the festivities and cooking up some delicious food. While it is too late to make these goodies, I highly recommend trying them soon! I saw the recipe for these fritter in the most recent Vegetarian Times a few weeks ago and knew immediately I was going to make them. I tested them out last weekend when the girls came for a visit, but then really put in the effort to make them perfect earlier this week. We have a weekly CSA pick up from Fledging Crow Farms from the farmers market, which means I have to start cutting and cooking right away and lucky for me, scallions, zucchini, peppers and garlic scapes were all part of my pick-up.
Read MoreI had a couple of my closest friends come up this past weekend for a visit. It included the usual mischief of going out, drinking a little too much and dancing with abandon. We got in a little cardio by climbing Cobble Hill. Notice the word "hill". While my girls probably felt it was closer to a mini mountain (we joked wondering if we could call uber), it really was nothing in comparison to walking one of the 46 peaks (because you know I did that once and will never forget how terrible that was). We also pampered ourselves on the rainy Sunday by going to the Whiteface Lodge Spa to get massages as well as make use of the steam room, outdoor pool and jacuzzi.
Who cares about girls what about the food?
Read MoreThankfully these bouts of fear are those I get hit with in passing and are not a constant. Unfortunately I still have no way of shaking them off nearly as quickly as they come on. But, being afraid just means we have room to grow. We have room to be better and to challenge ourselves. It should make us grateful. And when we get past the fear, it gives us the opportunity for celebration, preferable in the form of bubbly, dessert or more dessert.
Read MoreI have had no desire to write lately. Maybe its the sun, maybe its the lack of sun, maybe its the rain, maybe its because I really want a greasy slice of pizza from Little Italy (even though my homemade one is better and healthier).
Read MoreSo this might be one of my most exciting posts (ok, tied for my dog sitting gig). This past Saturday I became a BA (Bad Ass). I wear this badge with pride. You may laugh as to how I got this recognition, but I will tell you I am now a force to be reckoned with. You’ve been warned.
Read MoreI just returned from an amazing trip to visit my girlfriend Monica where we ate, drank and sat out in the perfect Florida sun. With my father’s passing I really needed some time to just get away and get completely distracted. At first I wasn’t positive if I would still go since this trip was planned in April and I wasn’t sure when all of my father’s funeral arrangements would take place, but it worked out. This is going to end up being a two or three part deal since it was a jam packed weekend with food, furry creatures and an "OMG, she did it" moment!
Read MoreThe other day Andrew and I hit the 8 month mark on being married. It feels like no time has passed, but yet it feels so far away (for some reason that song with the lyrics "double entendre" is playing in my head…not even sure it applies). I am not really big on celebrating monthly anniversaries, I mean a. it could get expensive if you are going all out every month and b. doesn’t it feel like you JUST celebrated it (30 days is not very many days in between).
Read More....In addition to a heavenly soup and mouth watering pancakes, we also went to Smoke Signals for their homemade veggie burger (extra fries) and drinks with our friends. Totally missed taking a photo as I may have been a bit tipsy and a lot of bit hungry. ...
